Being Good Neighbors
Every day, farmers work as stewards of the land and their environment. They consult with university specialists and scientists when making their planting decisions, and use safeguards to prevent crops from cross-pollinating, when growing certified products.
Some farmers in California grow both biotech and organic crops on the same farm by creating buffer zones between the crops or timing their planting such that crops cannot cross-pollinate. Farmers recognize which crops are open pollinating and which are self pollinating, and plan accordingly.
Family farmers support the real and potential benefits that biotech crops bring. They care deeply about their land and the environment they provide for their children, and would not do anything to harm their crops, their neighbors or their families.
